The method defines the result.
Separation and detection.
Liquid chromatography separates components under stated conditions. The diode-array detector records absorbance as components pass through the detector. Sample preparation, column, mobile phase, wavelength and integration settings all affect the resulting profile.
A chromatographic profile, chemical identity and analyte content are different questions. Reference materials, calibration and other evidence are needed according to the question being asked.
